A few nights ago, a customer and long time friends of my wife and I treated us to a double date of the the Long Center presents Georgia On My Mind: A Celebration of Ray Charles and His Music.

The night was a walk down memory lane of Ray Charles’ catalogue of greatest hits performed by highly esteemed, award-winning artists and musicians — Clint Holmes, Nnenna Freelon, Tom Scott and Take 6.

.brand domains: to be or not to be?

In 2010, a growing list of well-known brands began to speculate on the future of the internet and its hopeful acceptance of new domain extensions.

While .com and other legacy domain extensions have long been accepted, many of the brands couldn’t turn a blind eye to the possibility of .brand domains becoming the next big thing to hit the tech world since the internet itself.

This past weekend was a busy weekend for the House of Brown, and as always, the City of Austin.

As I do every other Saturday, I met with a group of gents from the Executive Leadership Council at Rudy’s.

Unfortunately, due to the down pour of rain at 6am, the meeting consisted of myself and another close friend.

This was good because he and I really needed to catch up with life, work, church and everything else over a few breakfast tacos.

As our time came to a close, knowing I must rush home to post the daily expired domain auction listings, I discovered the Austin Convention Center was hosting the annual Coming Con as read the poster via Rudy’s Bulletin Board.

If you’re a dentist or dentistry professional, or know of anyone or business that is, then you’ll certainly want to read and share today’s post.

As I travel throughout the Austin metroplex and in general, whether business or personal travel, domain encounters are as natural as breathing. I discover the good, the bad, and ugly too.

In case of today’s article, I stumbled upon a forward-thinking dentist and Austin-based dentistry business using a new top-level domain (new TLDs) to represent its digital presence.

From Self-Service to Full-Service .Storage

Last weekend I was catching up on the previous week’s mail delivery that hit our inbox.

Of course, summer brings in a number of mailers — vacation offers, pest control, tree trimming, lawn care services, pool service, to name a few.

In between all this junk mail though I found a much anticipated, latest edition of the Community Impact news brief for the Northwest Austin area.

From business openings and closings to real estate news to specific neighborhood stories and issues highlighted, I enjoy reading and catching up on all the news reading Community Impact.

But what caught my about the latest edition was discovering an Austin-based storage company’s advertisement on page 11.

Marketing Multiple Domains to Deliver Heating and Air Conditioning Comfort

We’re well into summer here in Texas, and things are heating up quickly and quite early.

I don’t know if we’ll set record-breaking numbers for triple-digit weather, but things appears to be on track for such a possibility.

Most recently I dedicated a weekend to cleaning our 11-year old air conditioning units in hopes of each lasting one or two more summers before needing to be replaced.

I was fortunate to have cool, overcast weather that weekend to have been able to power off sections at a time of our house.  All in all, it took about 1.5 hours for each system, including disassembly, cleaning, and re-assembly.

Afterwards, both units operated as efficient as they could to be for 11 years old, blowing cool air inside while the temperature inched a few degrees away from triple-digit weather.

This was all good until about a week or so ago when I received the dreaded call from my wife about the upstairs AC unit NO LONGER blowing cold air. ?

Little did I realize the number of microbreweries that are sprouting and propagating the Northwest Austin corridor near The Domain.

It wasn’t until my wife and I were most recently invited to attend a graduation party from a person with our church’s community group.

As we drove to the location of the graduation party, I couldn’t help but notice microbreweries lining the streets of Metric over by Metric and Kramer in Northeast Austin.

One after the next, each microbrewery appear to specialize in its own delightful niche of homegrown brew.

When we finally arrived at our destination, 4th Tap Brewing Cooperative, I was kindly greeted with two different domains that had nothing to do with the brewery or party.

In fact, I struggled a bit to understand both domains and their respective uses.

Leaving from church yesterday, I decided to go a different route than sit in traffic from crossover to Mosaic and Gateway attendees.

As I was waiting to make a right onto McNeil Road from Pecan Street to head eastbound, I spotted a simple 7-Letter, 2-Word domain that I had passed hundreds of times over the last 10 or so years and not recognized it.

Can’t believe it’s been one year since last Memorial Day and giving for the honorable men and women graciously deciding to serve and protect the United States of America, many having lost their lives. ??

My family and I kicked off Memorial Day quite early than many folks — literally our day started just before 6 am CST.

As we did last year, we made our way down to Auditorium Shores to support our friend and spiritual daughter as she participated, competed, and placed 3rd in the Sprint Course for her age group at the Annual Memorial Day CapTexTri.
