A Night Out at Mozart’s Christmas Lights

What a week we had last week when our regularly scheduled Texas weather was interrupted with an early white Christmas for one night.

The snow and ice have long melted, but the ole’ Christmas Spirit is alive and well here in Austin, Texas.

Having a joyous night out at Main Street Bethlehem a few weeks back, my family and I ventured towards Lake Austin to take in the Christmas Light experience Sponsored by Mozart’s and Hula Hut.

Well, it’s that time of year. The leaves have long changed colors and fallen to the ground.

Along with mulit-color lights arrives familiar holiday classic compositions.

And as the House of Brown transitions from Thanksgiving to warmly embracing Christmas and all it has to offer, we took a trip one-hour northwest to the city of Burnet, Texas.

I last left you as we pulled into the Chick-Fi-La in Waco, Texas to stretch our legs and fill our bellies with breakfast.

Bellies are from Chick-Fi-La, potty breaks have been had, and hearts are all played out and ready for a mid-morning nap as we continue our trek to spend Thanksgiving in Sherman, Texas.

Thanksgiving, Travel, and Domain Encounters – Part I

Many Americans will head out on the highways and byways this Thanksgiving to partake of good ole turkey and dressing, the timeless fruitcake and make a memories (hopefully good ones) with family and friends.

Our family is no exception. It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since we last celebrated Thanksgiving with my side of the family in hustling and bustling metropolis of Sherman, Texas.

My family and I chose to travel bright and early the day before Thanksgiving, hoping to avoid the bumper-to-bumper gridlock that can occur from time to time along highways 35 and 75.

Fortunately our 5-hour trip was smooth sailing and without incident. In fact, I consider the trip a goldmine with the added bonus of all the domain encounters I’ll soon share.

Breaking Through With .Glass

From auto glass repair companies, windows manufacturers, or creative glass artisans, you certain to enjoy and be encouraged by my latest new gTLD extension encounter.

My most recent encounter happened while in route back to the office from a nice trim and shave at my local barber. I was a block from the office at a red light when a truck pulled up next to me.

At that moment, I was prepping my mind for the number of tasks I was aiming to complete, so I didn’t think or make much of truck until I heard a horn blow.

I have a rather short 3-minute commute from my home to my office here in Northwest Austin, occasionally encountering a variety of domain names in my short travel time.

Most of the domains encountered are the same ole’ ones due to the number of small business or professional office strips along Pond Springs Rd.

Nevertheless, I was headed home this evening when I stopped to get gas at the corner of Hunters Chase and Pond Springs.

Discovering vehicles (and domains) at “Touch a Truck”

Despite the Texas Longhorns giving an early Christmas gift win to the Oklahoma State Cowboys in overtime on an ill-advised lob for an interception, it’s been a long but good weekend.

The highlight of today was a field trip over to City of Round Rock’s “Touch a Truck”, which was a hit with our boys.

My wife and I didn’t know what to expect, but it was an event full of horn honking, lights and sirens, and vehicles of all shapes, sizes, and kinds.

Can alphanumeric domains provide a competitive advantage used as a vanity domain?

One of the first things a typical domain investor learns is to stay away from alphanumeric domains and to strictly focus on .com domains.

This is not to state that there are not alphanumeric .com domains worth investing in. In fact, there are a few alphanumeric domain combinations, albeit a small pool, that are worth investing.

However, most alphanumeric .com domains are not worth purchasing as domain investments, depending on the letters and numbers used, and their respective positions.

Nevertheless, I was working this past week when I heard external commotion adjacent to my office wall. This particular wall is an exterior wall exposed to an adjacent nursery and landscaping company.

Would you like a .com with or without hyphens?

Today’s post leaves me scratching my head for a number of reasons I’m soon to mention.

My family and I were in route home from a filling dinner when I spotted a domain on the back of a car.

I maneuvered lanes of traffic to get closer to read the back of the car.

It was hard to make out, but I was able to make out a domain with hyphens and a phone number.

The vehicle belonged to a local Austin maid service.
