It’s that time of year where “Summer Fever” is beginning to set in as we transition from Spring.

At the same time, April showers have brought May flowers as well as NBA Playoff games.

Just the other night, I happened to have the TV on as background noise as the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks Game 2 was nearing the end.

As I happened to glance up from solving a challenging coding issue, I thought my eyes were deceiving me when I noticed what looked to be a new domain extension being advertising on the Bucks hardwood floor. Could it be true?

We’ve never lived in a time where we’re bombarded daily, consciously and unconsciously, by a never-ending sea of advertisements.

Mail, radio, tv, email, text, phone, watch, video, podcast and a growing list other tips and tricks all in hope to secure the next customer.

As I read the latest edition of Community Impact for the Northwest Austin region, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a well-known brand advertising their annual face-to-face user conference using a .TO domain.

The weekend is nearly here and so is an opportunity to participate in and support a charity kickball tournament taking place in Austin, Texas March 30th (12-8pm).

But to participate in this event, you’ll need to be 11 years of age or older and ready to pay out and sign up before the registration deadline of March 22nd (TODAY!).

And it’s not just any ole’ kickball tournament, but one sponsored by Catalyst — a mobile community developing individuals personally, professionally, and spiritually, helping others bring their unique purpose to life. All entry fees and donations going directly to serving at-risk teens via Effie Center After Hours program.

I discovered this event as I scrolled through my LinkedIn newsfeed and saw a post from Catalyst Founder, Joe Elliott, that was quite entertaining to say the least.

St. Patricks Day - .pub domain extensions

Hopefully no one had the pleasure of pinching you this St. Patrick’s Day. While I enjoyed time at church, many locals and tourists enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day and the final weekend of Austin’s SXSW.

News stations reported great music in the air on nearly every corner in downtown Austin, and surrounding neighborhoods and venues.

While there was no shortage of St. Paddy’s Day celebrations, one celebration caught my eye by promoting an annual St. Patrick’s Day block party via a .pub domain.

By now you should know I frequent Rudy’s weekly to experience the greatest Texas cuisine a gas station can offer: breakfast tacos.

And while I’m often in a mad dash to taste and partake of bacon, egg, and cheese, or potato, egg, and cheese tacos, I can’t help but to get sidetracked by Rudy’s Bulletin Board. ?

As I scanned the board to discover any unique domains to write about, this given day in January my scanning was rewarded to find a band debuting its new album via a .BAND domain.

There is no shortage of companies and persons shouting to the mountain top that all the good .com domains are taken. While there is a kernel of truth about a decent percentage of .com domains no longer available, this isn’t the complete truth or story.

I was reminded tis’ the season for marketplace health insurance as I stopped for Rudy’s sweet tea on my way to an afternoon meeting.

Well, it’s been one of those kind of weeks for the House of Brown. Everything is good, yet the journey to arrive a good a bit challenging and rewarding in the same breath.

Austin has certainly has its fair share of rain this week, seeing the Texas Highland Lakes all reach or surpass flood stage.

I can stand the rain, I’m not much of a fan for it being cold and wet. Temperatures dropped earlier this week to mid 40’s, and I know this because my daily driver — 1977 Caprice Classic — let me know by not starting.

While I love her and drive her daily, I had to seriously consider the value in having a reliable vehicle that’ll start rain, sun, sleet or snow.
