? Keller Williams and The Moats Team Debut a Real Estate .ForSale Domain ?

Reading Time | 6 Minutes

I’m back with another domain discovery, and this time it’s a real estate domain using the .forsale new top-level domain extension.

I was driving east bound on Anderson Mill Road in Northwest Austin on my way to get a haircut.

I tend to be very observant of my surroundings while driving, on the lookout for domains being advertised on vehicles, billboards, and buildings.

As I was making a left turn at the intersection of Anderson Mill Rd and Parmer Rd to head Northbound towards Toll Road 45, my eye quickly made out Keller Williams and what looked to be a .forsale domain name advertised via a yard sign.

Of course, I couldn’t stop in the middle of the intersection, causing an accident, to simply take a picture of my new found gem of a domain to discuss.

So, I continued on my way, but made mental note to stop back by the intersection on my way back to the office from getting a haircut.

Unfortunately, on my way back, the light was green and I was unable to get a picture. However, as fate would have it, there were 8 more yard signs that I had passed earlier and never noticed due to their positioning.

Following the arrows on the yard signs, I was able to pull over in a residential neighborhood to capture a picture of Keller Williams and The Moats Team’s domain: www.AustinHomes.ForSale.

AustinHomes.ForSale is the first time I’ve encountered a .forsale domain being used and not redirected by an reputable real estate company.

It was only a few weeks ago that I conducted a podcast interviewing Jebidiah Burnett — Senior Domain Consultant at Donuts, Inc. He’s the remarkable gent responsible for brokering record-breaking domain sales of Home.Loans at $500K, and a packaged deal for Homes.ForSale and Houses.ForSale at $90K.

Fresh off this interview, I was pumped to have discovered a Austin-based real estate company actively promoting a .forsale domain as their primary digital presence.

And of course, you know I couldn’t wait to get back in front of my laptop to open a web browser to check for other domain availabilities.

And because of Jebidiah’s interview, the first domains I searched were AustinHome.ForSale, AustinHouse.ForSale and AustinHouses.ForSale. Unfortunately, all are registered and listed as premium domain when using GoDaddy Domain Name Search.

Of course, knowing that Austin-centric domains are quite competitive, I then searched for the next best domain options — using “ATX” abbreviation.

And in full disclosure, yes I did register ATXhomes.ForSale, ATXHome.ForSale, ATXHouses.ForSale, and ATXHouse.ForSale as domain investments.

I could see a number of real estate agents and companies making good use of each domain as a brand or simply a trackable redirect domain used in print, email, billboard or digital ads.

Knowing the greater Austin metro area is just over 2 million people, I pondered the thought of whether other “city+house”, “city+houses”, “city+home” and “city+homes” .forsale domains were available, registered, developed or used as redirects.

Fortunately, I was able to crack open my geo service spreadsheet containing a list of the top 25 US Cities in order by population. 😉

Since AustinHomes.ForSale was the initial finding, I searched the top 25 US cities replacing Austin with each city name, including city abbreviations for a handful of the cities with longer names.

To my surprise, only six “city+homes” .forsale domains were registered and either resolved to a GoDaddy Parked page or simply not resolving to a website or page at all.

  • SeattleHomes.ForSale – GoDaddy Parked Page
  • SDHomes.ForSale – not resolving
  • SAHomes.ForSale – GoDaddy Parked Page
  • DCHomes.ForSale – not resolving
  • NYHomes.ForSale – GoDaddy Parked Page
  • IndyHomes.ForSale who- GoDaddy Parked Page

Out of the eight total registered “city+homes” .forsale domains, only one domain, privately registered JacksonvilleHomes.ForSale, was developed, rather partial development in comparison to AustinHomes.ForSale.

Jacksonville Real Estate - JacksonvilleHomes.ForSale

And to my surprise once more, I found one abbreviated “city+homes” .forsale domain, JaxHomes.ForSale, to be privately registered and redirecting to a fully developed website via Home904.com.

Jacksonville Florida Real Estate - JaxHomes.ForSale

Majority of the full name and abbreviated “city+homes” .forsale domains appear to be registered and listed for sale as premium domains when bulk checking availability at GoDaddy. The domains with an asterisk (*) were available for hand-registration at the time this article was written and published.

And in full disclosure, I do not own any of the listed domains below outside of the four (4) previously mentioned earlier in the article.

In addition, I performed the same search for “city+houses” .forsale domains.  Again, only five “city+homes” .forsale domains were registered and either resolved to a GoDaddy Parked page or not resolving.

  • SeattleHouses.ForSale – GoDaddy Parked Page
  • CharlotteHouses.ForSale – not resolving
  • SAHouses.ForSale – GoDaddy Parked Page
  • DCHouses.ForSale – GoDaddy Parked Page
  • NYHouses.ForSale – not resolving

There was a single “city+homes” .forsale domain, DenverHouses.ForSale, registered and forwarding to fully developed EnglewoodHomeFinder.com.

Denver House For Sale - DenverHouse.ForSale

Majority of the full name and abbreviated “city+homes” .forsale domains appear to be registered and listed for sale as premium domains when bulk checking availability at GoDaddy. The domains with an asterisk (*) were available for hand-registration at the time this article was written and published.

And in full disclosure once more, I do not own any of the listed domains below outside of the four (4) previously mentioned earlier in the article.

Will .forsale be real estate’s go-to domain for the future?

With the $90K sale and soon-to-be development of Houses.ForSale and Homes.ForSale, both a solid foundation for the future usage of .forsale domains as an investment or company brand.

In addition, discovering AustinHomes.ForSale, JaxHomes.ForSale, JacksonvilleHomes.ForSale and DenverHouses.ForSale in use is highly encouraging the use of .forsale domains at national, regional, county, and city levels.

Of course, city .forsale domains targeting homes and houses are likely not going to sale for mid-to-high 5-figure values like their category-defining counterparts, Houses.ForSale and Homes.Forsale.

Time will certainly reveal whether or not .forsale domains are a lucrative investment for the real estate industry.

I’m of the opinion that .forsale domain usage will strongly appeal to a younger audience ready to disrupt the longstanding business of real estate.

What do you think of real estate .forsale domains?
