If you ever cruise down Jollyville Road in Northwest Austin just before you get to Oak Knoll, then it is likely that you will spot an Austin-based business that is clearly *seeing* their way into a profitable future.
Located across the street from the Jollyville United States Postal Service (Post Office), this small business’ sign is quite easy to read and simple to understand.
In short, they are all about helping those of us with eye and vision problems see correctly. The company I’m referencing is no other than AustinEye.com.
Whether by accident or on purpose, I’m impressed again with another local Austin business that understands and reaps the benefits of a geo keyword domain.
What a great short domain that says it all, is easy to remember, and looks great on limestone (see below).
What’s interesting is about the use AustinEye.com as a digital presence is that this is the shortest domain for an Austin eye doctor or vision specialist.
AustinEye.com could have easily used any one of the domains listed below, but I believe they chose the most perfect and value-added domain.
- EyeAustin.com
- AustinEyeDr.com
- AustinEyeDoctor.com
- AustinVision.com
- AustinLasik.com
- AustinVisionSpecialist.com
- AustinVisionDr.com
- AustinVisionDoctor.com
- ATXEye.com
Could AustinEye.com purchase more domains as a defensive register to lock out the competition or keep the competition at bay? Sure, they could.
In fact, I would be surprised at the volume of type-in traffic the above domains generate without search marketing assistance of PPC or SEO.
In closing, I’m not certain of revenues, profitability or how well AustinEye.com is doing as a business in general, but I’m quite certain it’s well based on their reviews, place of business, and their choice of domain.
If you’re a small business owner reading this, I encourage you to research your local market for domains related to your business.
If your business is national or global, then remove the local city, county, country, state or location, and focus solely on keywords. Yes, you’ll pay more.
However, I challenge you to not see it as a payment, rather see it as an investment that will be a drop in the bucket in comparison to the business it’ll generate for your business.
