When you have 3 kids six and under, then there is likely a chance that YouTube for Kids isn’t far from being a daily part of your life — whether 30 minutes, the whole day, or somewhere in between that expansive time range.

This given morning as I retreated from our bedroom to start our day with family prayer, and head off to the office for a days work, I paused a video my kids were held captive by.

In most cases, I’m not held captive by the same material, but this day was a bit different when my eyes landed on what looked to be a new domain extension: .watch.

We’ve never lived in a time where we’re bombarded daily, consciously and unconsciously, by a never-ending sea of advertisements.

Mail, radio, tv, email, text, phone, watch, video, podcast and a growing list other tips and tricks all in hope to secure the next customer.

As I read the latest edition of Community Impact for the Northwest Austin region, I was pleasantly surprised to discover a well-known brand advertising their annual face-to-face user conference using a .TO domain.

The weekend is nearly here and so is an opportunity to participate in and support a charity kickball tournament taking place in Austin, Texas March 30th (12-8pm).

But to participate in this event, you’ll need to be 11 years of age or older and ready to pay out and sign up before the registration deadline of March 22nd (TODAY!).

And it’s not just any ole’ kickball tournament, but one sponsored by Catalysta mobile community developing individuals personally, professionally, and spiritually, helping others bring their unique purpose to life. All entry fees and donations going directly to serving at-risk teens via Effie Center After Hours program.

I discovered this event as I scrolled through my LinkedIn newsfeed and saw a post from Catalyst Founder, Joe Elliott, that was quite entertaining to say the least.

Going Green with .PUB

St. Patricks Day - .pub domain extensions

Hopefully no one had the pleasure of pinching you this St. Patrick’s Day. While I enjoyed time at church, many locals and tourists enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day and the final weekend of Austin’s SXSW.

News stations reported great music in the air on nearly every corner in downtown Austin, and surrounding neighborhoods and venues.

While there was no shortage of St. Paddy’s Day celebrations, one celebration caught my eye by promoting an annual St. Patrick’s Day block party via a .pub domain

Learning to Drive Online and In-Person with Drivers Ed

Learning to drive is likely one of the most memorable moments in life for both parents and child, and for many different reasons — the good, the bad, and ugly.

While teens are pumped to no longer have to request the services of the parental taxi, parents are certainly apprehensive — to say the least — when it comes to allowing their “baby” to operate machinery tonnage in the great big outdoors.

Dating myself, I remember having attended driver’s education school in the mid 90’s. Comprised of a number of classroom hours — reading and studying, watching VHS videos, and taking test by hand — and hands-on instruction in a dated clunker, today’s driver’s education school has drastically changed.

I was recently reminded of this change while out on a walk enjoying a nice warm day in between 40 degree shifts in the Texas’ sporadic weather pattern.

As I walked by the Mini of Austin dealership, parked in the service area was a Mini Cooper with a wrap advertising the student driver services of DriversEd.com.

By now you should know I frequent Rudy’s weekly to experience the greatest Texas cuisine a gas station can offer: breakfast tacos.

And while I’m often in a mad dash to taste and partake of bacon, egg, and cheese, or potato, egg, and cheese tacos, I can’t help but to get sidetracked by Rudy’s Bulletin Board. ?

As I scanned the board to discover any unique domains to write about, this given day in January my scanning was rewarded to find a band debuting its new album via a .BAND domain.

Why Use Questionable New Domain Extensions

Five years after global fanfare, and not many new domain extensions could be considered a profitable success, if successful at all.

There is no shortage of companies and persons shouting to the mountain top that all the good .com domains are taken. While there is a kernel of truth about a decent percentage of .com domains no longer available, this isn’t the complete truth or story.

When Dining, Be More Pacific!

Reading the title, one is likely to assume that I’ve not used spellcheck or Grammarly. While it’s likely and highly possible, that’s not the case this day.

In fact, I had never heard of Be More Pacific until I was invited to lunch by another friend and brother, Youtuber Chris Massie.

It had been a while since we last caught up, and Chris thought it to be a great idea to catch and shoot his next episode in the series “Best Filipino Food in Austin…” And what a time we had too!

Having lived in the same neighborhood for a little over a decade, I’ve had the pleasure of watching a developed neighborhood of original or second homeowners age transfer ownership to newly married couples or early-stage families of little ones.

When my wife and I moved in, we were the only young couple for about 3 years until others started making their way into one of the hottest areas and real estate markets in Northwest Austin.

While I never paid much attention to the traffic patterns when we first moved in, that all changed when we brought home our oldest child, and certainly changed when he was a bit more mobile and could play in the front yard.

As with many things in life, you likely don’t notice certain things in life until it becomes apart of your journey. I never paid attention to how fast cars would make their way through the neighborhood.

But with three kiddos under the age of 6, what I once never considered is now a critical thought pattern of my life to protect not only my kids, but our village of children now spread across 10 households.

I was reminded of this as familiar red and white signage pops up in yards covering a 1-mile radius of where we live.
